Memoir as Performance as Memoir

ROSE: WEAVER OF STORY AND SONG is a fun 90 minutes of dramatic storytelling with songs and projected images about Rose's life on the stage from her beginnings at Trinity Rep in 1973 to the present. Created as a Rhode Island Humanities Project for Stages of Freedom, Rose wrote and dramatized the role theatre played in constituting her identity, culturally and personally. Together, with a three foot tall black rag doll that Rose made from scratch and named Rosetta, they share some laughs, a few tears, the successes and disappointments of being a performing artist.

Rose will be accompanied by Delbert Collins on piano and will open the floor at the end of the performance for discussion.
